Celtic captain Callum McGregor has heaped praise on Nigeria forward Kelechi Iheanacho after he made an immediate impact for the Scottish Premiership side.
Since joining the Hoops, the former Manchester City, and Leicester City player has managed to score two goals – against Kilmarnock in the top-flight and Crvena Zvezda in the Europa League – and provided an assist in their 4-0 Scottish League Cup demolition of Partick Thistle F.C.
“I think the first time I saw him, you know, you can just tell by the way someone hits the ball—you think, ‘Right, he can play.’ He’s got a big pedigree,” he said, as quoted by Glasgow Times.
“The reason we’ve got him is probably because he’s lacking a bit of game time and just needs to get up to speed. The good thing is, he’s come in and his attitude’s been amazing.”
He concluded: “Good business comes in many forms. You don’t always need to pay big money for good players—it’s about getting them at the right time and getting them hungry.”
Iheanacho will hope to be in the scoresheet when Celtic return to Europa League action with a fixture against Braga at Celtic Park on Thursday.
