Egyptian giants, Al Ahly have officially confirmed the departure of Sporting Director Mohamed Ramadan and Assistant Coach Sami Komsan from their positions.
This follows the club’s recent exit from the CAF Champions League, where they were knocked out in the semi-finals by South African side Mamelodi Sundowns.
The announcement comes just one day after the club revealed that Swiss head coach Marcel Koller would also be leaving his role as the team’s head coach.
In the coming hours, Al Ahly is going to announce the appointment of a new Sporting Director and head coach.
The Egyptian giants are enduring one of their toughest seasons in recent years.
In addition to their Champions League exit, Al Ahly don’t participate in this season’s Egypt Cup as a disciplinary decision because they opted to withdraw from the last season’s version to rest their players, and they are currently second in the Nile Egyptian League, four points behind leaders Pyramids FC.
Moreover, the club faces the possibility of a three-point deduction following a decision by the board of directors not to attend a match against Zamalek, citing the decision not to appoint a foreign referee for the fixture.
Should the points deduction be applied, Al Ahly could drop to third place in the league standings and lose the ext season’s CAF Champions League spot.
Al Ahly’s season has also seen disappointment in the CAF Super Cup, where they were defeated by their arch-rivals Zamalek at the start of the current campaign.
However, the club has managed to secure two trophies this season: the Egyptian Super Cup and the FIFA African-Asian-Pacific Cup, providing some silver lining in an otherwise challenging season
