AmaZulu FC head coach Arthur Zwane has revealed the Kaizer Chiefs player he strongly believes stood out and “showed his quality” during the Betway Premiership clash against his team on Wednesday night.
Zwane’s troops managed to get a point away from at FNB Stadium in Soweto as they held Amakhosi to a 1-1 draw.
AmaZulu opened the scoring through Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya in the 21st minute before Mduduzi Shabalala found the equaliser for Chiefs.
After the game, Zwane was full of praise for the players he had developed while part of Chiefs’ development structures. He singled out midfield maestro Nkosingiphile Ngcobo as the player who had a good game against his Usuthu side.
Zwane, who spent over two decades at the Soweto giants as both a player and coach, said the club has improved since his departure in October 2024. He was the head coach of Amakhosi in the 2022-23 season before being demoted back to the development structure due to poor results.
“Chiefs are playing well, we saw it tonight [Wednesday], they are playing well,” declared Zwane.
“They have progressed, and it is always nice to see some of your players like Mduduzi Shabalala and Ngcobo [Mshini]. And I think Mshini [on Wednesday night against AmaZulu] showed his quality. These are the products of Kaizer Chiefs, and when they play at some point, it is going to benefit the team.”
