Mohammed Kudus debut goal powers Spurs to slim win

Ghana national team playmaker Mohammed Kudus scored his debut goal of the 2025-26 season as Tottenham Hotspur defeated Leeds United by 2-1 on Saturday.

Spurs traveled to the Elland Road with three draws and one win and Kudus’ match winner increased their point total to fourteen from seven games.

The visitors wasted no time in search of the opening goal and their effort paid off early following some strong incursions. Kudus teed off Mathys Tel in Leeds United’s third half with the Frenchman racing into the penalty area before chopping the ball past goalkeeper Karl Darlow in the 23rd minute.

The home side did not go to sleep after going down early in the game, with Swiss international Noah Okafor drawing level eleven minutes after. The 25-year-old found himself in a favourable position for a cool tap-in after Spurs keeper Guglielmo Vicario spilled a ball into his path.

The second half of the game looked evenly matched until Kudus silenced the home crowd. Kudus, who joined Spurs in a £55 million deal at the end of the summer transfer window, found the equalizer with a brilliant finish that tricked Leeds keeper Karl Darlow in the 57th minute.

The victory sent Spurs into 3rd on 14 points, same as Bournemouth, with Kudus recording his first goal in seven games.
