Zamalek’s poor run in the Nile Egyptian League continued after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Ghazl El Mahalla on Saturday evening at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium in Round 10 of the 2025–26 season.

The White Knights had to bounce back following a draw against El Gouna and a defeat to Al Ahly in the Cairo Derby, but once again, they failed to find the winning touch.

Zamalek nearly took the lead in the 38th minute when Juan Bezzera weaved his way into the box and fired a low shot that beat goalkeeper Amer Amer but was dramatically cleared off the line by defender Mohamed El-Ash.

Just a minute later, the breakthrough finally arrived. From a well-delivered corner by Mahmoud Bentayg, midfielder Ahmed Rabie headed home and gave Zamalek a 1-0 advantage before the halftime.

However, Ghazl El Mahalla refused to fade away. In the 65th minute, a misplaced pass from Bentayg sparked a quick counterattack led by Rashad Arfaoui, who raced down the flank and squared the ball across for Mahmoud Salah. The winger made no mistake, slotting past Mohamed Sobhi to level the score at 1-1.

The result leaves Zamalek stuck on 18 points — missing the chance to reclaim top spot, which remains held by Al Masry due to goal difference. Meanwhile, Ghazl El Mahalla earned their eighth draw of the campaign, the most by any team in the league so far.
