Kudus, Diouf and Semenyo among the Premier League assist leaders — African influence rises

Ghanaian star Mohammed Kudus continued his impressive form for Tottenham Hotspur, delivering a standout performance with a goal and an assist in their 2–1 victory over Leeds United.

Kudus set up the opener in the 23rd minute, threading a pass that allowed French striker Mathys Tel to slot home and give Spurs the lead. The in-form forward then doubled the advantage himself in the 57th minute, finishing to secure all three points for his side.

With that assist, Kudus has now climbed to the top of the ُEnglish Premier League assist charts for the 2025–26 season, drawing level with Jack Grealish of Everton.

In second place come Senegalese left-back El Hadji Malick Diouf and Ghanaian winger Antoine Semenyo, both sitting just behind the leaders with three assists each, continuing to play key creative roles for West Ham United and Bournemouth respectively.

Below is the updated list of the Top 7 Premier League assist leaders so far this season:

Rank Player Club Assists
1 Mohammed Kudus Tottenham Hotspur 4
1 Jack Grealish Everton 4
3 Granit Xhaka Sunderland 3
3 El Hadji Malik Diouf West Ham United 3
3 Joao Pedro Chelsea 3
3 Antoine Semenyo Bournemouth 3
3 Jeremy Doku Manchester City 3

Last season (2024–25), the Egyptian star, Mohamed Salah, claimed the top playmaker award, providing 18 Premier League assists for Liverpool — a benchmark Kudus now seems able to challenge.
