A coach for a top-flight league club in Zimbabwe slapped his own player during a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) match on Saturday.
Zimbabwe PSL has confirmed the incident involving Ngezi Platinum FC handler Takesure Chiragwi who lost his cool during the game against Dynamos FC at Rufaro Stadium in Harare. The match ended 1-1.
The national team assistant coach had been shown a red card and in reaction, he was caught on camera slapping his own player substitute Mcdonald Makuwe in the technical area.

The player had tried to restrain Chiragwi from confronting the referee over his decision in the build up to Dynamos goal. The referee had first shown a red card to Platinum substitute Kudzai Chigwida before Chiragwi reacted angrily too. He too was sent off.
In a post-match interview, Chiragwi described the incident as normal in football.
โFootball is a game of emotions everybody was just thereโฆ it was a lot of people โฆunfortunately, I donโt know what exactly happen, but football is like that. Even top managers in the world can do something like that. Nothing to justify it but what is important is that we really tried to play the gameโฆeveryone was trying to calm each other,โ he told the media.
The Zimbabwe PSL has since vowed to investigate the incident upon receiving a report from Platinum and the officiating panel.
โWhile the league currently awaits all the official match reports, we have requested the Club to also submit a detailed report on the incident to enable the league to establish the facts surrounding this incident,โ PSLโs statement reads.
โThe League strongly condemns any form of violence and the PSL will not hesitate to take appropriate disciplinary action where necessary in line with the PSL Rules and Regulations.โ
