Akor Adams was on the scoresheet as Sevilla delivered a commanding 4–1 victory over Barcelona in La Liga action on Sunday at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.
The Andalusian side delivered a dominant performance from start to finish, dismantling the Catalan giants.
Bryan Sánchez opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 13th minute before Isaac Romero doubled the lead in the 36th minute to put the home side firmly in control. Blaugrana showed brief signs of life when Marcus Rashford pulled one back deep into first-half stoppage time (45+7’), but Los Rojiblancos regained control after the break.
As the match entered stoppage time, J. Ángel Carmona restored the hosts’ two-goal cushion in the 90th minute. Shortly after later, Nigerian forward Adams, assisted by compatriot Chidera Ejuke, capped off the victory with a composed finish in the 90+6 minute. It is Adams’ second goal in as many matches, both arriving after coming off the bench.
Adams’ strike came just days after receiving his first senior national team invitation, a timely boost for Nigeria’s Super Eagles ahead of their crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho on October 10 and Benin on October 16.
The 24-year-old forward is expected to join the Super Eagles camp on Monday as preparations begin for Nigeria’s decisive push for a World Cup ticket.
