Ghana Premier League: “I’m not afraid of the sack” – Bechem coach Botchway

Head coach of Bechem United, Desmond Botchway has come under sharp criticisms following the clubs jerky start to the Ghana Premier League.

The Hunters have collected just two points out of a possible twelve in four opening matches this campaign.

Desmond Botchway led his charges to a 2-1 opening day loss at reigning champions Gold Stars before managing a goalless draw at home to Holy Stars in week two.

They succumbed to a 1-0 loss against leaders Heart of Lions at the Kpando Stadium and a goalless draw against giants Hearts of Oak completed week four at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park.

A two points haul has elicited uproar among the club’s fans who are calling for the sacking of coach Desmond Botchway but the experienced trainer is unfazed by that action.

‘There is pressure from fans to perform’

“There is pressure because the fans are expecting more than what they are seeing, honestly I can see people calling for my head but I don’t care because this is our trademark, sacking and all those things,” Desmond Botchway told the media.

“The problem is how to get [the goals] into the back of the net and that is the problem we have now.” He added.

Bechem United have a tall order in week five away to Aduana on October 12 at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park.
