Billiat reveals Zimbabwe’s strength ahead of Bafana showdown

Veteran Zimbabwe forward Khama Billiat has offered insight into the cohesion of The Warriors squad as they finalize preparations to face rivals Bafana Bafana in a decisive FIFA World Cup qualifier on Friday at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

With Zimbabwe unable to host the tie domestically due to the lack of compliant international venues, the squad has been based in Durban, South Africa, for several days.

Billiat, the former Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs talisman, highlighted the importance of having the majority of the team’s core players assembled for this camp as the key factor in their current strength.

“The chemistry is good, I think we have most of the guys in the camp,” Billiat stated. “The most important thing is to gel together in a short space of time, and so far, it is going well.”

The 34-year-old emphasized that the quality of their training sessions has focused on quickly building synergy.

“Our sessions have been great, primarily focusing on moving the ball and ensuring fitness. We just need to keep focusing and work together. We trust everyone who’s here.”

Billiat’s comments suggest that despite the logistical challenges of an away fixture and short preparation time, the immediate availability of key professionals is driving their tactical readiness.

Billiat is joined by a powerful contingent of experienced talent, including Knowledge Musona and Aston Villa midfielder Marvellous Nakamba. Other notable names cementing the squad’s strength include Tawanda Chirewa, Walter Musona, and Divine Lunga.
