CAFCL: Yanga coach Folz: ‘I know enough about Silver Strikers’

Young Africans Sports Club (Yanga SC) coach Romain Folz says he knows more than enough about Silver Strikers ahead of Saturday’s CAF Champions League (CAFCL) clash in Lilongwe.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns assistant trainer spoke about the preparedness of the Tanzanians ahead of their match against the Malawi league champions. The second preliminary round, first leg game will take place at Bingu National Stadium.

Looking ahead of the encounter, the 35-year-old said he did his homework for the game during the FIFA international window for international games.

“We are as prepared as we can,” Folz said.

“We did our best during the international break to prepare the players who were with us. We prepare for every game with the same level of dedication, seriousness and commitment.”

The ex-AmaZulu FC handler said he had done his research about the TNM Super League champions after watching videos of their matches.

“We know everything we need to know—whether collectively or individually and also the history of the team. They have been doing so well…I know more than enough about the opponents,” Folz added.

“The target is to go as far as possible in every competition.  We know the expectations, we will achieve them and even exceed them.”

The delegation for Yanga arrived in Lilongwe on Thursday for the Champions League assignment.

The Tanzanian giants will host the return leg on October 28 in Dar es Salaam.

Silver advanced to the next qualifying stage of the continental league after seeing off Elgeco PLUS from Madagascar via an away goal rule after settling for a 1-1 aggregate score.

In the opposite camp, Yanga dismissed Wiliete FC from Angola 2-0 on aggregate.
