Injury sidelines Amine Gouiri ahead of Le Havre match

Algerian attacker Amine Gouiri will miss Olympique de Marseille’s French Ligue 1 game against Le Havre due to injury. Gouiri, 25, underwent a test on his right shoulder in Marseille and the club decided to keep him out of the first team for a brief period.

Gouiri collided with Uganda national team goalkeeper Jamal Salim during a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match in Tizi Ouzou. Both players were rushed to the hospital due to the severity of their injuries, and the Algerian striker dislocated his right shoulder.

Algerian national team doctors managed to treat his injury but Marseille conducted further tests on Thursday to rule out Gouiri for the Ligue 1 clash on Saturday against Le Havre.

Marseille is still contemplating further tests before making a decision on Gouiri. Surgery on his right shoulder has not been ruled out, but it would keep the striker out for at least two months, thus forcing him to miss the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Such a move is not an option for Marseille as league games intensify and the UEFA Champions League returns next week.

Amine Gouiri has a goal and an assist in seven matches this season for Marseille, both of which came in a substitute appearance on October 4 when Marseille defeated Metz 3-0.
