AFCON 2025 ticket sales off to strong start

With less than three months before kickoff, ticket sales for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) hosted by Morocco are picking up. The organizing committee has revealed that more than 137,000 tickets have already been sold out of the available 400,000.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) previously announced that 400,000 tickets would be made available for the 52 games. Three phases of ticket sales were introduced, with the first beginning on October 14. The committee announced that 137,250 tickets were sold within a few hours.

The second sales phase will begin on October 25, followed by a third on November 25, thus completing the three stages planned before the tournament. To date, more than 211,000 applications to buy tickets have been received, including 170,350 already validated, from 124 countries.

AFCON tournaments are often criticized for the low sale of stadium tickets. Games featuring the host nation usually get sold out, while other matches see low attendance rates. With the astounding ticket sales thus far, CAF is expecting a larger attendance rate, even surpassing the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast.
