RS Berkane coach: “Pyramids don’t have a huge fan base, which might work in our favor”

Tunisian coach Moein Chaabani, manager of RS Berkane, expressed big confidence in his team ahead of the 2025 CAF Super Cup clash against Pyramids FC of Egypt, set to be played on Saturday evening at the Air Defense Stadium in Cairo.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Chaabani said:

“We’re facing a strong and difficult opponent. It’s a clash between two champions of Africa, and every coach or player would be proud to take part in such a prestigious event,” Chaâbani said. “The CAF Super Cup means a lot to everyone involved.”

“Pyramids are champions of half the world”

The Tunisian tactician praised the Egyptian side, acknowledging their recent success and depth:

“Pyramids have a talented squad and achieved a remarkable feat by winning the ‘Champions of Three Continents’ title. They’re a great team — you could even call them champions of half the world. But we also have considerable experience in continental competitions, and that gives us confidence in handling this kind of big occasion.”

Confidence despite absences

Chaabani confirmed that RS Berkane will miss a few players but stressed his trust in the available squad:

“We have some absences, but I believe in every player here. Everyone is ready to deliver a performance worthy of RS Berkane. We’ll fight for the trophy.”

On the crowd and Egyptian teams

The Tunisian coach highlighted that the crowd factor could play a role but doesn’t necessarily favor Pyramids:

“Pyramids don’t have a huge fan base, which might work in our favor. Still, we respect them and know how tough this match will be.”

He concluded by saying:

“It’s true that luck wasn’t on our side in some past encounters with Egyptian teams, but every match is different. Playing at Pyramids’ home gives them a slight edge, but we’re ready — and we’ll fight with everything we have to lift the cup and make our fans proud.”
