Morocco U-17 national team coach Anwar Mghinia has welcomed the 3-0 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup defeat against Brazil at Olympic Stadium in Rabat, Morocco on Friday.
The hosts found themselves from the tournament opener after Brazil opened the gates and took an early lead when Evelin raced onto a long ball past the Moroccan defence and slotted home for the tournament’s first goal.
Brazil star Giovanna Waksman doubled Brazil’s lead in spectacular fashion by controlling a pass with her chest, juggling it twice and then firing it in on the half-volley, before Allyne hammered added the third towards the end of the second half after Morocco failed to clear a free-kick.
Despite the defeat, Mghinia the outcome was a learning process for her side as the tournament progresses but further assured of an improved performance in their next match.
“This loss will be an important lesson for us, and we will learn from it, as most of the players are experiencing their first official match in their careers,” Mghinia told FIFA.com.
“What they learned today could not have been gained in any previous match, which is why the next match will be better. This is what we promise to our dear fans.”
Morocco will next take on Italy at Olympic Stadium on Tuesday, October 21.
