Cameroonian forward Bryan Mbeumo and Ivorian winger Amad Diallo showed impressive forms, combining for Manchester United’s opener in a thrilling 2–1 victory over Liverpool in the English Clasico.
Mbeumo struck just two minutes into the game, converting a precise through ball from Diallo with a composed finish inside the box to give United an early lead at Anfield.
Liverpool fought their way back into the contest and finally found the equalizer in the 78th minute through Cody Gakpo, but United’s captain Harry Maguire delivered the decisive moment, heading home the winner in the 84th minute to seal a dramatic victory for Ruben Amorim’s side.
Egyptian star Mohamed Salah started the match but was substituted in the 85th minute after a quiet performance, failing to register a goal involvement.
The result extends Mbeumo’s tally to two goals in eight Premier League appearances and three across all competitions, while Diallo’s assist marked his second of the league campaign in seven matches.
Manchester United achieved their first Premier League victory over Liverpool at Anfield since January 2016, when Louis van Gaal’s side triumphed 1–0.
The win also marked United’s first away league victory since defeating Leicester City in March, ending a run of eight consecutive away matches without a win.
