Paris Saint-Germain temporarily top the French Ligue 1 following their routine 3-0 win over Stade Brest in round nine, with right-back Achraf Hakimi scoring a first-half brace. The Morocco international contributed to a goal for the first time in the 2025/26 Ligue 1 season.
The reigning French champions came into the tie on the back of their biggest away Champions League win over Bayer Leverkusen. Hakimi opened the scoring after being set free by Vitinha in the 29th minute. The right-back doubled the lead ten minutes later with a powerful shot from close range. Désiré Doué wrapped up the win in stoppage time as PSG took home maximum points to temporarily top Ligue 1 with 20 points — two ahead of rivals Olympique de Marseille.
Hakimi, 26, is among the nominees for the annual CAF African Player of the Year award and has been tipped to win the accolade by his coach, Luis Enrique. He started the new season with three consecutive assists in the Champions League and has now registered his first goal contribution in Ligue 1 this season.
