Mighty Wanderers FC coach Bob Mpinganjira has saluted his players for executing his game-plan to perfection to beat Malawi domestic league rivals FCB Nyasa Big Bullets 3-0 in Blantyre on Sunday.
The Nomads, as Wanderers are affectionately called, humbled the People’s Team with a commanding performance. Adam Wallace’s strike and fellow substitute Blessings Singini’s brace won it for Mpinganjira’s side. The Nomads moved to within a point of Bullets who have played one game more.
Reflecting on the match played at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre, Mpinganjira said his wards played according to the game-plan.
“I must commend our players for putting up a spirited performance. They managed to execute the game plan accordingly. As you know, Bullets are a good side and for us to beat them 0-3, our players deserve a pat on the back,” the coach said.
Lali Lubani Boys can return to the summit of the 16-member log table if they overcome Songwe United at the same venue on Wednesday. Wanderers face Bullets again next weekend in a domestic cup semi final meeting. The Nomads have now defeated Bullets twice in the league.
The two teams command the largest following in Malawi’s domestic football but Bullets are considered the biggest having won the most 17 league titles compared to six for Wanderers, the only unbeaten side in the league this season which is now in round 21.
