South African star Lyle Foster has reflected on the amazing feeling of scoring a late winner for Burnley FC against Wolverhampton Wanderers FC on Sunday.
The Bafana Bafana regular broke Wolves’ hearts with a 95th-minute goal to seal a dramatic 3-2 victory in the Premier League match.
In a post-match interview with Wolves’ television station, the former Orlando Pirates star described the victory as deserved.
“Yeah, I feel amazing, yeah, ecstatic. I’m more than anything happy for the team. I think we deserved it, especially going two goals up and with the performance we showed…,” Foster said.
“Yeah, I was just blessed today to be able to score the winner, but amazing feeling and more than anything just happy for the boys, man.
“I think we had a few throw-ins on the and just try make a run and stay on side luckit it went through on goal thank god I was on side something in this league it can break you.”
The Bafana Bafana forward added that Burnley are finally getting a deserved reward for their good performance after some mixed results in the Premier League.
“The boys deserved it after the season we have had. I think we have not had luck on our side, losing games we were not supposed to lose,” he added.
The Clarets cruised to a two-goal lead in the first half courtesy of Zian Flemming’s double. However, Vitor Pereira’s boys fought back to equalize through Jorgen Strand Larsen’s penalty and Marshall Munetsi’s header just before half-time.
The stage was then left for Foster to decide the contest with the late strike which left Wolves winless in the Premier League this season.
