Former Everton manager David Moyes believes Ghana international Mohammed Kudus has all the ingredients required to succeed in the Premier League with Tottenham.
The Ghana midfielder joined Spurs on a six-year contract until 2031 from West Ham United. The 25-year-old, who was named Ghana Footballer of the Year in each of the last two years, arrived in North London after making a total of 80 appearances in all competitions over a two-year-spell at London Stadium, scoring 19 times.
He has gone ahead to build his name at Spurs, his recent contribution guiding the team to a 3-0 win against Everton. His performance during the game caught the attention of Moyes, who had signed the player for West Ham.
“He’s a brilliant player,” Moyes said after the game. “He has so many attributes to his game. He is a great boy to work with. I hugely enjoyed managing him.”
He added: “He has great balance, can’t be knocked off the ball, and can play inside or outside. He can play several positions if you want him. He’s just finding his form at Tottenham. From a distance, he looks like their best buy of the summer.”
So far this season, Kudus has managed nine appearances, scored one goal and provided four assists. Born in Nima in Accra, Ghana, Kudus spent his early years locally with Strong Tower FC before joining the Right to Dream Academy in 2012.
Ahead of his 18th birthday, he moved to Europe and joined Nordsjaelland in 2018 and, after making 57 senior appearances and scoring 14 times for the Danish outfit, he earned a move to Ajax in July, 2020.
During his time in the Netherlands, he made 87 senior appearances in all competitions, scoring 27 goals, and, in 2021-22, helped the team become Eredivisie champions once again.
The following year, Kudus enjoyed a prolific campaign, scoring 18 times in all competitions, including four in the UEFA Champions League.
