Maduka Okoye secures first clean sheet of the season with Udinese

Nigerian goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has secured his first clean sheet of the 2025-26 Italian Serie A season as Udinese edged Atalanta 1–0 in match day 10 of the season at Bluenergy Stadium on Saturday.

Okoye, who recently returned from a two-month suspension over alleged involvement in a betting scandal, had conceded in each of his previous three matches since his return.

Nicolo Zaniolo scored the decisive goal in the 40th minute, handing Udinese their fourth win of the campaign and lifting them to eighth place on the log, while Atalanta dropped to 10th.

It was a quiet afternoon for the Nigerian goalkeeper, who was largely untroubled throughout the game as Atalanta managed five shots, none of which were on target.

Okoye’s compatriot, Ademola Lookman, featured for Atalanta but was unable to trouble his Super Eagles teammate in goal.

The victory brings an end to Atalanta’s unbeaten run, as Udinese goes away to the capital to face AS Roma on November 9 before the international break.
