Manager of English Football League (EFL) Championship side, Hull City, Sergej Jakirovic has praised Nigerian defender Semi Ajayi after his impressive display in the club’s away win at Norwich City on Saturday.
The Tigers defeated their hosts 2-0 at the Carrow Road, with goals from Joe Gelhardt and Darko Gyabi in the second half.
The visitors had a below par performance in the first half but the introduction of Ajayi in the second half led City’s resurgence.
Speaking to on HullCity Live after their victory Jakirovic claimed the 31-year-old introduction gave his team stability.
“They were much better than we. We couldn’t do anything. I can admit easy because in half time I told to the players we cannot play.
First half was so bad so we can improve a lot and that’s what happened. Second half we were much better. We gained stability with Semi.
Then we started to play on the ball.”
The victory is Hull City’s first victory at Carrow Road in 15 years, as they are now 7th in the EFL table.
