Substitute Promise Kamwendo’s late strike handed Mighty Wanderers a 1-0 victory over FCB Nyasa Big Bullets to reach the final of Malawi’s FDH Cup on Sunday in Blantyre.
The Nomads also defeated Bullets 3-0 last Sunday in a TNM Super League match at the same Kamuzu Stadium to complete a third straight victory over the rivals this season and claim Blantyre City bragging rights.
Kamwendo, who had come in for Thierry Tanjong Sama, powered his header into the net from Isaac Kaliyati’s delivery, the swerve of the ball leaving Bullets goalkeeper Innocent Nyasulu helpless.

Ahead of the semifinal, Wanderers coach Bob Mpinganjira made slight adjustments to the squad that faced Bullets last Sunday. With winger Wisdom Mpinganjira unavailable due to an injury, Adam Wallace got the starting nod alongside fellow scorer in the second derby, Blessings Singini.
Defender Peter Cholopi and Cameroonian Sama also sneaked their way into the starting XI. Blessings Mwalilino and Muhammad Sulumba, who featured last Sunday, were benched.
Bullets coach Peter Mponda, too, threw strikers Babatunde Adepoju, Maxwell Gasten and midfielder Yankho Singo into the starting line up with the likes of Hassan Kajoke benched.
In the end, Wanderers looked to the bench for a solution in Kamwendo whose goal booked a place in the final. The Nomads will meet Silver Strikers. Strikers edged Civil Service United 1-0 on Saturday to advance to the final.
