Ethiopian Coffee coach Abiy Kassahun has asked fans to be patient after a 1-0 loss to Ethio Electric in the week 4 game of the Ethiopian Premier League.
Kassahun took the helm at the Addis Ababa outfit at the start of the new campaign.
There has been growing protest over the Browns’ performance and results in recent times, as Kassahun has come under pressure. Coffee have won only once and lost twice in their first four games, including a Sheger Derby defeat at the hands of cross-city rivals Saint George.
After the loss to Ethio Electric, Kassahun asked for patience. “The fans should be patient. We need them to support the young players. We are working to bring quality to the team.”
Ethiopian Coffee last won the league more than a decade ago. Kassahun stated that it is not the end of the road. “We have four points. There are teams below us. We can work to improve this.”
Kassahun was an assistant coach when Ethiopian Coffee ended the 2024/25 season as runners-up. His first assignment as head coach was during the 2025 Kagame Cup, where Coffee were eliminated in the group stages.
Ethiopian Coffee will face Adama Ketema in round five as they hope to bounce back from the defeat.
