Newly appointed Kenya Police FC head coach Dusan Stojanović has outlined his plans to help the team return to winning ways in the FKF Premier League.
The Serbian coach arrived to replace Etienne Ndayiragije, who was fired after he failed to guide the law enforcers into the group stages of the CAF Champions League. After qualifying to the second preliminary round, Police failed to beat Sudanese giants Al-Hilal Omdurman over two legs.
The first leg in Nairobi ended in a 1-0 defeat before losing the return leg 3-1 in Sudan. Police left the stage on a 4-1 aggregate defeat. On Monday, Police h confirmed the arrival of Stojanović, who boasts relative coaching experience in Africa, having tutored in Uganda where he steered SC Villa to their 17th league title in 2023-24.
Speaking after being unveiled, Stojanović said: “I know where Police want to be, I know what they want to achieve, and that is the reason I want to jump into the train, so that we can be on the same line. We know what Police have achieved, and what they are targeting for the future, so I can promise a good start under my reign.
“I hope everything will be how we want it to be, and I can promise hard work, and I can promise we will never give up, and we will always fight for what is our goal. For now everything is perfect, apart from the results, we are just lacking goals, and I know with more time, we will change that.
“I don’t know much about Police, I want to be honest, I only watched a few of their matches while in Europe, I watched the two matches against Al Hilal, this is what I used to get information about the players and the team, two seasons ago I was in Uganda, and East Africa as a lot of similarities, so I won’t have problems settling in.”
Stojanovic’s first assignment will be a league fixture against Sofapaka on Wednesday, before they face Tusker FC on Sunday.
