U-17 World Cup: Egypt kick off campaign with emphatic 4-1 victory over Haiti

Egypt U-17 national team made a dream start to their FIFA U-17 World Cup journey with a commanding 4-1 win over Haiti on Tuesday.

The tournament, hosted by Qatar from November 4 to 27, sees Egypt placed in Group E alongside Haiti, England, and Venezuela.

The young Pharaohs wasted no time stamping their authority on the match. Just three minutes in, Hamza AbdelKarim broke through the defense and unselfishly squared the ball to Bilal Attia, who fired home to give Egypt an early 1-0 lead.

Egypt doubled their advantage in the 11th minute through a moment of brilliance from Abdelaziz El Zoghby. The winger received a low cross from the right flank, skillfully beat his marker, and drilled a precise left-footed effort past the Haitian goalkeeper to make it 2-0.

Haiti managed to pull one back in the 20th minute when Nicolai Oliver Pierre finished off from outside the penalty area with a precise shot that beat the Egyptian keeper, cutting the deficit to 2-1.

However, Egypt quickly restored their dominance. In the 27th minute, a well-timed volley from Hamza AbdelKarim found the back of the net to extend the lead to 3-1 — a scoreline that stood until halftime.

The second half saw Egypt cap off the performance with a fourth goal in the 72nd minute. Bilal Attia turned provider, delivering a pinpoint cross that was met by Omar Kamal, who headed the ball into the net to seal the 4-1 victory.

It was the perfect start for Egypt, who collected their first three points in the group stage after a 28-year absence from the U-17 World Cup tournament.

The young Pharaohs will now turn their attention to their next challenges — facing Venezuela on November 7 and England on November 10 — as they aim to continue their impressive run in the U-17 World Cup campaign.
