Walusimbi eyes silverware glory after bright start at KCCA FC

KCCA FC’s dependable defender Enock Walusimbi has expressed his determination to help the club reclaim its glory days by winning trophies this season.

Since joining the Kasasiro Boys, Walusimbi has quickly become an integral part of the team, featuring in four games and contributing to a solid defensive record conceding just once through a penalty in the derby against SC Villa at Namboole.

The former Express FC, URA FC and Soltilo Bright Stars defender credits his seamless transition to the familiar faces and strong camaraderie within the KCCA FC squad.

“I am settling in very well at the club. When I came in, I found a good number of players who were my friends, and it has been easy for me to adapt here,” he told the club media.

Walusimbi and his teammates return to action on Friday

Walusimbi further highlighted the unity, work ethic, and healthy competition in the camp, describing it as the driving force behind their impressive start to the season.

“There is hard work and competition here. We are a family, and that is very important. It does not matter if someone has played or not—there is love and motivation from one another and the coaches,” he added.

Currently sitting top of the Uganda Premier League table with 11 points after five games, KCCA FC looks poised to mount a strong title challenge. The club last lifted the league trophy in the 2018/19 season under Mike Mutebi, and Walusimbi is eager to help end that wait.

“I want to play more games, keep more clean sheets, win matches, and win silverware for the club this season,” he stated confidently.

Having captained Express FC to the league title in the 2020/21 season, Walusimbi brings both experience and leadership to Lugogo.

The Uganda Cranes international also hopes that his performances at club level will pave the way for a return to the national team setup.

Walusimbi and his teammates return to action this Friday with a mouth-watering fixture away to Vipers SC at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, a clash expected to test their early-season momentum.
