The Cranes will first take on Chad on November 15, before facing hosts Morocco on November 19, as part of their final preparations ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) set to kick off next month. Uganda will compete in Group C alongside Nigeria, Tunisia, and Tanzania.
The 28-man squad features several new and returning names.
Among the new faces is midfielder Al Hassan Baba, who receives his maiden senior call-up. Baba currently plies his trade with Romanian giants FCSB (formerly Steaua București).
In attack, Melvyn Lorenzen makes a long-awaited return to the national team after nearly a decade. The German-born forward, now playing for Muangthong United in Thailand, last featured for Uganda in a 2–0 friendly defeat to Zimbabwe on May 31, 2016.
There is also a strong local representation, with nine players from the Uganda Premier League making the cut, including Vipers SC playmaker Allan Okello, URA FC captain Moses Aliro, and KCCA FC’s lively forward Shafik Kwikiriza.
The defensive department welcomes back Timothy Awany of FC Ashdod (Israel), while goalkeepers Tom Ikara (BUL FC) and Denis Kiggundu (Vipers SC) are among the fresh additions between the posts.
Coach Put’s selection blends international experience with domestic talent as he continues to fine-tune his squad ahead of AFCON 2025.
