Struggling Congolese side TP Mazembe have once again made defensive acquisitions following the signing of Abdoulaye Diedhiou and Yves Bulu Muyamina, a third arrival in a week.

Now, the Linafoot Ligue 1 outfit confirmed the recruitment of the 25-year Senegalese Diedhiou from Teungueth FC on a two-year contract while 18-year-old Muyamina, formerly of Celeste FC, has penned a five-year deal. The club has since announced that it is done on the transfer market in the first half of the season.

In a statement, Mazembe explained why they signed the duo, describing them as modern defenders who will add value to the team and enhance competition.

What qualities are the defenders bringing to Mazembe?

“Solid in duels, possessing excellent positioning and passing ability, Diedhiou embodies the profile of the modern defender sought by the coaching staff,” the club’s statement reads.

“With Diedhiou’s arrival, TP Mazembe strengthened a position where the coaching staff is keen to maintain strong competition. The stalwart Senegalese defender is already in Lubumbashi,

Where he is participating in training.”

Lamine Ndiaye’s side also highlighted what Muyamina will bring to the Ravens who are smarting from a damaging 2-1 loss to rivals Saint Eloi Lupopo.

The Lubumbashi-based club said the right- back signed for them two months ago but could not make his debut as he was injured.

“After a period of treatment and rehabilitation, he is now fully fit and ready to contribute his energy to the black and white team. A promising, hardworking player with real potential, he strengthens a key area of the TPM squad and will thus experience top-level football. With this signing, Yves Bulu Muyamina concludes the transfer window for the first half of the season.”

Meanwhile, Ndiaye has named Muyamina in the matchday squad for a Ligue 1 clash against SM Sanga Balende on Friday. The Ravens have won and lost also once to settle for eighth place in the 15-member log table with three points while Balende anchor the table. AS Malole have emerged as early pacesetters on top of the pile with nine points from three games.

Forward Patrick Mwaungulu has also made the playing squad for Friday’s game after returning from an injury he picked while on national team duty with Malawi in October.
