The opening fixture of Matchweek 7 in the 2025-2026 Doha Bank Stars League (Qatar Stars League) delivered plenty of excitement, as Al Shamal and Al Wakrah played out a thrilling 2-2 draw.

The encounter turned into a true North African showcase, with all four goals scored by players from Algeria and Morocco.

Algerian striker Baghdad Bounedjah gave Al Shamal the lead in the first half, netting in the 46th minute after meeting a low cross inside the box and finishing into the net.

Moroccan attacking midfielder Amine Zahzouh leveled the score for Al Wakrah in the 51st minute from the penalty spot, before his compatriot Ayoub Assal turned the game around just a minute later with a precise long-range strike from outside the area to make it 2-1.

However, Al Shamal refused to leave empty-handed. Deep into stoppage time, Algerian Omar Mohamed found the equalizer in the 90+7 minute with a shot from the edge of the box that deflected off an opponent and rolled past the goalkeeper.

After this result, Al Shamal moved up to 18 points in the second place, while Al Wakrah sit fourth with 15 points.
