The Nigeria U-20 women’s national team opened their 2025 WAFU-B U-20 Women’s Cup campaign with a 3-2 victory over Ghana on Saturday.
Nigeria took the lead through Janet Akeremkowei from the penalty spot five minutes before the break. Akeremkowei then doubled the advantage just before the break sending the Falconets into a 2-0 lead during the break.
The Black Princesses pulled one back just minutes into the restart of the second half through Sarah Nyarko.
However, it was the Falconets who had the last laugh when Favour Nkwocha restored Nigeria’s two-goal lead with a stunning strike form a direct corner kick two minutes from time.
