WAFU-B Women’s Cup: Nigeria cruise past Benin

The Nigeria Under-20 women’s national team, the Falconets, continued their dominant run at the 2025 WAFU Zone B U-20 Girls’ Cup, securing a comprehensive 3–0 victory over hosts Benin at the Adjohoun Stadium on Sunday.

The win marks a perfect start for the Falconets, who began their campaign just yesterday with a tough 3–1 victory over Ghana.

Kareem Leads the Charge For Nigeria

Coach Moses Aduku’s side took immediate control from kickoff, pressing the hosts aggressively. Their efforts were quickly rewarded in the 15th minute when Ramotalahi Kareem opened the scoring. Kareem displayed excellent composure to control a lofted pass from Kesseina Oyijovwi before expertly chipping the ball over the advancing goalkeeper, securing a 1-0 lead at the break.

The Falconets maintained their aggressive stance in the second half and doubled their advantage in the 59th minute. Kareem, who was deservedly named Woman of the Match, unleashed a powerful strike that beat the Benin keeper.

The victory was sealed deep into stoppage time. A poorly cleared corner kick fell directly to Precious Oscar at the edge of the box, and she calmly slotted the ball home to make the final score 3–0.

Standings and Next Fixtures

The decisive victory keeps the Falconets comfortably top of their group with six points. Meanwhile, the hosts, Benin Republic, remain rooted at the bottom without a point after suffering two consecutive defeats.

Nigeria faces a quick turnaround, with their next challenge coming on November 11 in a rematch against Ghana. They will then conclude their group stage campaign with a second encounter against Benin on November 12.
