Hearts of Oak’s quest to stay unbeaten this campaign was jolted by sworn rivals Asante Kotoko in week nine at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
The Phobians prided themselves in eight games without a loss prior to Ghana Premier League’s biggest derby against Kotoko.
A poor tackle on Peter Amidu Acquah by Amankwaa Baafi in the penalty area gave Kotoko a penalty with Guinean import, Morifing Donzo scoring the spot for the eventual match winner.
Hearts of Oak’s head coach, Mas Ud Didi Dramani believes his side did not deserve to lose the game.
“We lost and I think we don’t deserve to lose in my opinion and in the opinion of everyone who was observing not just watching,” Didi Dramani said in a post match interview.
“If you really observed the game you could see that we controlled some portions of the game and then Kotoko some portions were better in terms of their transitional play. We didn’t do well but we want to improve in some areas.”
Didi Dramani however questioned the referee’s decision to award Kotoko the penalty even though he admits right-back Amankwaa Baafi could have defended better in the area.
“I think it was so easy, even though we could have defended better in my opinion because we had trained on this.
Hearts of Oak remain in fourth on 16 points from nine matches, two points behind Heart of Lions and Medeama in third and second respectively. Aduana FC sit top of the on 18 points.
