Algerian international Youcef Belaïli, star of Tunisian giants Espérance Sportive de Tunis, has suffered a serious injury that will rule him out for the most of the remaining part of the season and keep him out of the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, according to media reports.
Tunisian radio station Mosaïque FM confirmed that Belaïli sustained a torn cruciate ligament during Espérance’s league clash against Club Africain on Sunday. The report added that the 33-year-old winger may be sidelined for around six months.
As a result, Belaïli will miss the Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026. There are also doubts over his fitness ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be held between June and July next year.
This season, Belaïli has featured in 12 matches across all competitions for Espérance, scoring 3 goals and providing 6 assists, before his campaign was abruptly cut short by injury.
