Al Ahli Tripoli edge past Al Ittihad on penalties to reach Libyan Cup final

Al Ahli Tripoli booked their place in the Libyan Cup final after a dramatic penalty shootout victory (3-2) over city rivals Al Ittihad at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium in Benghazi.

The Tripoli derby ended in a goalless draw after 90 minutes, as both sides failed to find the breakthrough in a tightly contested semifinal. With no extra time played, the match went straight to penalties — where Al Ahli Tripoli held their nerve.

For Al Ahli Tripoli, Mohamed El Monir, Abdelaziz Al-Suwaie, and Angolan striker Cristóvão Mabululu all converted their spot kicks, while Jihad Manaa and Ezzo Al-Mraimi missed.

On the other side, Al Ittihad saw Al-Zuhourni and Al-Senussi Al-Hadi find the net, but Al-Khuja, Moaz Issa, and Mahmoud Al-Shalwi failed to convert, sealing their team’s exit.
