Al Ahly winger Hussein El Shahat praised his teammate Ahmed Sayed “Zizo” for showing remarkable composure during the Egyptian Super Cup final against Zamalek, stressing that there are no problems within the team’s dressing room.
Al Ahly defeated their rivals Zamalek 2–0 in the Egyptian Super Cup final held at the Mohamed bin Zayed Stadium in the UAE.
Speaking to MBC Masr 2, according to Yallakora, El Shahat said:
“Zizo is a top player — no one can underestimate his quality. He’s capable of carrying a team on his shoulders. In the Zamalek match, he showed great emotional control, and that’s part of his personality. All the players were happy for him.”
He continued:
“We were joking with Zizo, asking if he was going to cause any problems, but he was fully focused as always. That’s who he is — calm and professional. All of Al Ahly’s players are exceptional.”
El Shahat dismissed any rumors of tension inside the team, adding:
“There are absolutely no issues in Al Ahly’s dressing room. We meet every day and enjoy being together — the atmosphere is very positive.”
Reflecting on recent performances, he admitted the team had some misfortune in front of goal:
“We were unlucky in the previous games, especially against Al Masry and Petrojet — the ball just wouldn’t go in. But that’s football.”
He concluded by recalling the players’ thoughts before the Super Cup final:
“Before the match, we agreed that we must win the trophy. It was a matter of life or death for us — we wanted to make our fans happy and thank God we succeeded.”
