Zimbabwean internationals Knowledge Musona, Khama Billiat and their Scottland FC team mates are smiling all the way to the bank.
The Zimbabwe Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) rookies have received a handsome reward for their giant-killing antics that have seen them end the dominance of established traditional clubs such as FC Platinum, FC Dynamos, Caps United and Highlanders FC in the South African country.
Moved by the newcomers’ exploits of winning the league title in their debut season, Zimbabwe’s top businessman Sir Wicknell Chivayo has splashed $250,000 reward to Billiat, Musona and company.
Actually, Musona, who is called The Smiling Assassin, could be seen smiling as Chivayo counted the strands of the dollars before presenting them to him on behalf of the entire playing squad and technical panel.
Scottland captured the feel-good moment on their social media platforms of Facebook and x.com, acknowledging Chivayo’s fulfilment of a pledge he made to the team. Chivayo is a top Zimbabwean businessperson and socialite known for his display of his wealth.
“Scottland FC benefactor, Sir Wicknell Chivayo today handed over the US$250 000 he promised for winning the 2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title. We are grateful to Sir Wicknell and look forward to another successful hunt next season!,” the club’s statement reads.
The rookies sealed the league’s championship recently with two games to spare after thrashing relegated Kwekwe United 4-1. Billiat was on target in that match, while Musona also had a big impact on the proceedings.
The money which Scottland have received is more than the Castle Lager PSL championship prize of $ US $100,000 hence the positive vibe in the camp of the champions-elect.
In winning the Zimbabwe league championship on their debut Castle Lager PSL season, Scottland equaled Black Rhinos FC’s record set in 1984.
