Apart from summoning only domestic-based players, the Brave Warriors handler has also delegated his responsibilities to John Sikerete with Marley Ngarizemo serving as an assistant. It has now transpired that Benjamin has the next qualifiers for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in mind.
The coach has since justified the choice on the interim coaching panel for the friendly. He described Sikerete and Ngarizemo as coaches for the future, hence deserving the chance to manage the team.
“John Sikerete has done well with Chula Chula since the team joined the Namibia Football Premier League (NPFL), he also coached the CHAN team for the qualifiers. We believe he is more than capable to take on the task again for the friendly encounter,” Benjamin said.
“We also appointed Marley, who is doing amazing work with Gobabis-based team, Young African – he came in the NPFL and won the FA cup the same year, he recently competed in the CAF Confederations Cup and these are the kind of coaches we need in the setup.”
Benjamin further explained his squad selection, saying his focus was on the next CHAN qualifiers.
“The Warriors will be playing CHAN qualifiers next year and we need to start preparing a team that will be ready to compete. We had a conversation and looked at the players in the league and this is what we came up with,” the coach added.
Benjamin will miss the friendlies as he will be away in South Africa attending a coaching workshop.
