Defending CAF Women’s Champions League (CAFWCL) champions TP Mazembe successfully recovered from defeat in their opening match to win 3-0 on Wednesday against Gaborone United in Group B.
The Ravens were in full control against the club from Botswana. South Africa national team forward Kgaelebane Mohlakoana opened the scoring after the half hour mark and the favorites carried on to finish the job in the second half through goals from Marlene Yav and Elena Obono.

In the second match of the day, group leaders ASEC Mimosas were held to a 1-1 draw by Tanzania’s JKT Queens. In a surprise results, the underdogs from East Africa took the lead inside ten minutes through Ester Maseke’s header from a corner kick.

But after upsetting TP Mazembe in their opening match, Ivorian giants ASEC managed to save a point through a late penalty kick from Erica Gnounoue. The result leaves ASEC in first place with four points with all four teams in contention to advance to the knockout stage with a top-2 finish.

JKT Queens will need to shock TP Mazembe with a victory when the final matchday from Group B takes place on Saturday while Gaborone United face off against ASEC needing a victory themselves. Group A will finish up its fixtures on Friday.
