Algeria and Espérance star Youcef Belaïli promises to return strongly after long-term injury

Algerian international Youcef Belaïli has expressed his determination to come back strongly from the serious injury he recently suffered.

In a meeting with Espérance president Hamdi Meddeb, Belaïli told the club’s official channel: “I want to thank all the supporters in Algeria and Tunisia who checked on me. I also thank our president Hamdi Meddeb for standing by my side. He always teaches us to return stronger, and I consider him the best club president.”

He added: “I will work hard to come back in the best shape possible to make all Espérance supporters happy. This season, we must all stand together to achieve our objectives.”

Youcef Belaïli sustained a torn cruciate ligament during Espérance’s league clash against Club Africain, an injury that is expected to keep the 33-year-old winger out for around four to six months.

As a result, Belaïli will miss the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, set to take place in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026. His availability for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, scheduled between June and July next year, is also in doubt.

Before his season was paused, Youcef Belaïli had made 12 appearances across all competitions for Espérance, contributing 3 goals and 6 assists and playing a key role in the team’s attacking setup.
