DR Congolese striker Fiston Mayele expressed his pride and joy after winning the CAF Interclub Player of the Year award for 2025. The ceremony took place on Wednesday in Rabat, Morocco, as part of the annual CAF Awards event.

Mayele claimed the prestigious honor after competition with his Pyramids teammate Mohamed Chibi and RS Berkane midfielder Oussama Lamlaoui.

Following his win, the Pyramids striker said:
“I feel extremely proud. I’m very happy with this award. It’s the first time in my career that I win such a prize, and it’s a truly special moment for me.”

He added:
“I must thank Pyramids FC. They have supported me greatly and stood by me in every moment. I also want to thank Mamdouh Eid, the coaching staff, the medical staff, and all my teammates.”

Mayele concluded by praising his teammate Mohamed Chibi, saying:
“Mohamed Chibi is here with us tonight. He also deserved to win this award. He is an exceptional player.”
