A goal in the final moments of second half stoppage time condemned Morocco to a 1-2 defeat against Brazil. Dell’s composed finish in the fourth minute of stoppage time confirmed victory for Brazil in what was the last kick of the match.
Les Lionceaux challenged the Brazilians from beginning to end but Dell, one of the top scorers in the tournament, was too much for the North Africans. The Bahia forward opened the scoring in the 16th minute before Morocco restored parity just before halftime with Ziyad Baha’s penalty kick.
But just when it seemed that the North Africans were about to hold on to take the match to a penalty shootout, it was Dell who reacted first to finish after the ball was headed behind the Moroccan defense.
Earlier on Friday, Burkina Faso were also eliminated with a late goal in their 0-1 defeat to Italy.
After a strong effort that saw them look more dangerous than their European counterparts at times, a costly error cost the Stallions late on. A poorly executed goal kick from goalkeeper Rahim Ouattara allowed Thomas Campaniello to move in and finish in the 83rd minute for the only goal of the match.
