The Ivory Coast national team star midfielder struck a low effort from distance to put Ahli ahead in the 66th minute, a moment that resulted in a Man of the Match award after the match for the former AC Milan star.
Ahli did not produce their best performance but took advantage of their opportunities to move ahead in key moments. Galeno opened the scoring for the hosts in Jeddah in the 6th minute before visitors Qadsiah bounced back after the hour mark when Abdullah Al Salem equalized.
But it was the Ivorian who provided the match-winning moment, following up to fire in with a first-time effort outside the Qadsiah penalty area. With the victory, Al Ahli leaped past Qadsiah into fourth place on the Saudi Pro League table.
Kessie now has 6 goals in 17 appearances across all competitions this season. While the Pro League will take a month-long break, Ahli have two matches in the next week. They will host Emirati club Al Sharjah in the AFC Champions League Elite on Tuesday before hosting Qadsiah again in the King’s Cup.
