CAFCC: Zamalek open group stage with narrow 1-0 victory over Zesco United

Zamalek began their CAF Confederation Cup group-stage journey with a valuable 1–0 victory over Zambia’s Zesco United at Cairo International Stadium on Sunday night.

The Whites secured the win thanks to a well-taken strike from Tunisian forward Seifeddine Jaziri, who found the net in the 42nd minute after a brilliant move and strike.

Despite the narrow scoreline, Zamalek created other chances in the first half, but Zesco’s goalkeeper stood out with key saves, denying both Ahmed Sherif and Nasser Maher.

The second half brought a worrying moment for Zamalek, as midfielder Nabil Emad “Dunga” was forced off the pitch crying in an ambulance after suffering an injury.

With this victory, Zamalek move to three points, placing them second in Group D—level with leaders Al Masry, who top the standings on goal difference. Meanwhile, Zesco United remain third with zero points, tied with South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs.
