Al Ahly have officially announced the medical updates regarding injured trio team captain Mohamed El Shenawy, Ahmed Abdelkader, and Mohamed Shokry, following the team’s recent CAF Champions League match.
In a statement published on the club’s official website, team doctor Ahmed Gaballah confirmed that scans revealed El Shenawy has suffered a second-degree groin strain, an injury he sustained during Al Ahly’s 4–1 win over Algeria’s JS Kabylie in the opening round of the group stage.
Gaballah added that further tests showed Ahmed Abdelkader has picked up a partial tear in the hamstring, while Mohamed Shokry has been diagnosed with a first-degree calf strain.
Each player will undergo an individualized rehabilitation program to ensure medical readiness before returning to team action.
Al Ahly, who secured an emphatic 4-1 victory over JS Kabylie last Saturday, are now preparing for their second group-stage fixture against Morocco’s AS FAR on Friday.
