Anis Hadj Moussa leads Feyenoord to Eredivisie victory

A goal and an assist from Anis Hadj Moussa was enough to lead Feyenoord to a 2-1 Eredivisie victory at Telstar on Sunday.

The Algeria national team attacker continues to be a crucial player for his club and was involved in both goals on Sunday. Hadj Moussa set up Ayase Ueda’s opening goal in the first half before firing in the eventual match winner after the hour mark in a Man of the Match performance.

The visitors went ahead in the 25th minute through Japanese forward Ueda. After winning the ball in the midfield, Feyenoord attacked down the right wing through Hadj Moussa. The Algerian lofted a pass into the penalty area for Ueda who bounced his finish past Telstar keeper Ronald Koeman.

After a strong first half, the attacking efforts from both teams increased after the interval and it was Feyenoord who struck in the 63rd minute through Hadj Moussa. The visitors caught Telstar in transition and Quinten Timber passed out to the Algerian on the right wing, who had plenty of room to cut inside before firing a low shot past Koeman.

Telstar made a late push to level the match but could not find a second goal after Kay Tejan cut the deficit in half in the 89th minute. Feyenoord are now seven points clear in second place on the Eredivisie table but remain six points back of league leaders PSV.

Hadj Moussa now has 7 goals and 3 assists in 20 appearances across all competitions. The 23-year-old featured in Algeria’s recent two friendlies earlier in November, coming on as a substitute in a 3-1 victory over Zimbabwe before getting the start in a 2-0 defeat of Saudi Arabia.
