Former Angola international forward Fabio Abreu completed a sensational 2025 season with Beijing Guoan on Saturday by scoring a hat-trick to help his club win the Chinese FA Cup (CFA Cup).
The 32-year-old veteran striker was in peak form this season and the Chinese Super League top scorer was instrumental on Saturday for the club based in the capital, who captured the trophy with a 3-0 victory over Henan Songshan Longmen at the Workers’ Stadium.
The former Moreirense star had a potential goal disallowed in the 6th minute by VAR but was in the right place to score the opener in the 18th minute following a goal mouth scramble. Later on, VAR switched in his favor close to halftime when Abreu had a shot attempt blocked by the hand of a Meizhou defender. The powerful striker proceeded to send the goalkeeper the wrong way to convert from the penalty spot.
Beijing Guoan were well in control throughout the match and their prolific forward provided the finishing edge. Henan put up little fight after halftime and Abreu finished off his hat-trick with another penalty kick in stoppage time to spark the celebrations. Long time Cameroon national team defender Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui was also in the XI for Beijing, playing 90 minutes in the victory.

Abreu, who made his last appearances for Angola during the qualifying campaign for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, is making quite a nice living for himself in China. After spending his early career in his native Portugal, he spent over two seasons in the Gulf region before moving to Beijing in 2023.
The 2025 campaign marked his best ever, with an impressive 28 goals in 30 Chinese Super League appearances while also adding 4 goals in the FA Cup and one more in his club’s ongoing AFC Champions League 2 campaign. He now has 60 goals in all competitions over three seasons with Beijing.
