Bob Mpinganjira: Mighty Wanderers Facebook
The flagship TNM Super League has entered its final four-game stretch which can make or break hot title favourites FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Wanderers.
The Blantyre rivals are tied on 59 points from 26 games in the 16-member league following their successful weekend. Bullets came from the Northern Region unscathed after a 2-0 victory over Karonga United while the Nomads worked overtime to overcome Ekhaya FC in Blantyre on Sunday.
Wanderers coach Bob Mpinganjira has commented on his team’s struggles to score after managing a slender 1-0 victory over Ekhaya FC on Sunday.
The Nomads occupy second place while Bullets are ahead on a goal-aggregate.
In a post-match interview, Mpinganjira admitted that his side, which has scored three goals in the last three games while conceding two, struggled to overcome the rookies.
“I must commend my boys for registering victory. It was a highly- contested match as you might have observed. It wasn’t easy. I must give it to the boys for securing victory,” the coach told Wanderers media.
“We created opportunities but we only managed to put one inside the net. That is what matters by the end of the day. Scoring more goals is not always guaranteed in football. I am, however, happy that we have bagged three points.”
Mpinganjira hopes Wanderers will win their remaining matches, starting with Karonga United in Blantyre on Thursday.
The Nomads have four games remaining to the finish line, including against Civo Sporting Club, Songwe Border United, Kamuzu Barracks all at home.
Bullets will wind up the season by playing against Moyale Barracks, Ekhaya FC, Mighty Tigers and Ekwendeni Hammers all at home. The most immediate assignment is against Moyale on Thursday.
