NPFL: Fidelis Ilechukwu reacts on Rangers victory over Bayelsa United

Head coach of Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) club Enugu Rangers, Fidelis Ikechukwu, has acknowledged that the reason for his side’s 4-1 victory over Bayelsa United was their ability to convert their chances on Sunday.

The matchday 16 game was a five-goal thriller, with all goals coming in the first half. Rangers took the lead via a brace from Iwundu Chidozie before Bayelsa United got one back with an Issah Yusuf finish.

However, a few minutes later, Kenechukwu Agu and Chimobi Igwilo put the match far beyond the reach of their visiting opponents at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.

Reacting after the game, Ikechukwu said his team played the same way in their last match but couldn’t finish, so they had to make adjustments to finish better with the same lineup.

“There is nothing different, this thing that happened today happened against Enyimba when we created a lot of chances, we didn’t convert them so I decided to use the same line up and try to do some adjustments and we will take it up from there.”

He went further to state that the club will be keeping their eyes open for the January transfer window to add attacking power to the squad.

“We will look for a way to get in a new striker because Godwin Obaje is really trying but we don’t want to put all on him. It is always difficult to get the players we want in mid season. We are working seriously”

With the victory, Rangers are now fourth on the table, and they will be going on the road in their next NPFL match to lock horns with Bendel Insurance.
