More injury concerns for Zimbabwe as Jordan Zemura star limps off

With less than two weeks before the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) kicks off, Zimbabwe has a mini-injury crisis to deal with.

Wolverhampton Wanderers FC midfielder Marshall Munetsi remains a big doubt after he suffered a calf injury during a Premier League game against Nottingham Forest.

The Warriors player missed Wolves’ match they lost 4-1 to Manchester United on Monday.

As if that is not enough, Italy-based Jordan Zemura followed suit on Monday.

The Zimbabwean utility player picked an injury while playing for Udinese FC against Genoa A in an Italian Serie A contest.

How is the situation in Zimbabwe camp?

Such injuries have prompted coach Mario Marinica to delay in naming his final AFCON squad.

The Romanian told the Zimbabwe Football Association that he will release his final party on Thursday.

“Jordan is injured and we don’t know the extent of the injury, so there was no point to name the squad before all [club] matches are played,” Marinica said.

Zimbabwe will leave for the AFCON finals in Morocco on Tuesday.

The Warriors will compete at AFCON finals in Group B alongside South Africa, Angola and Egypt.
